How can I find out about volunteering?

You can contact the Clinical Manager for an informal chat on 0118 901 5649 or at birgit.lundgren@no5.org.uk.

How do I become a volunteer?

Contact Birgit Lundgren, the Clinical Manager, who will let you know about the present vacancies and if appropriate invite you to the agency for an informal meeting. If you and No 5 wish to continue, we will ask you to fill in an application form and a Criminal Records Bureau form (police check).

What would you expect from me as a volunteer?

We would expect you to volunteer with No 5 for a minimum of six months and to follow No 5's guidelines and policies, including health and safety, equal opportunities, and confidentiality. We would also need you to adhere to child protection legislation and complete child protection training or show evidence of child protection training you have undertaken.

If you were volunteering as a counsellor, we would also expect you to attend your minimum one-hour supervision each calendar month and to provide evidence of prior counselling qualifications. No 5 also requires you to attend a minimum of three Continued Professional Development training workshops per year provided by No 5, or provide evidence such training has been previously undertaken.

What type of people become volunteers?

Volunteers come from many different backgrounds, professions, age ranges and lifestyles, providing the agency with an eclectic mix of skills. All are dedicated to improving the lives of young people in whatever by utilizing their strengths and learning new skills when necessary.
